Luna

Luna is a specialty boutique that opened in 1996, with the idea of creating a “Women’s sanctuary of the South.” The main focus and concept of the store is to present a wide collection of clothing, jewelry, accessories, and gifts in a unique and warm environment. Luna’s now has four specialty boutiques. The one that I have visited and shopped at is the Luna’s located in Phillips Place, in Charlotte NC. The three other boutiques are located in Charleston, SC, Bethesda, MA, and ATL, GA. Each boutique is unique and is inspired by its geological location.

Some of the brands they offer are:

-Boob-ezz
-Ella Moss
-Free People
-French Connection
-Gypsy 05
-House of Harlow
-Spanx

They have many many more brands and designers so check it out!

IKEA

IKEA is a privately held, international home products retailer that sells just about everything you would ever need when decorating your home. They sell bedroom furniture, living room, kitchen, children’s furniture and accessories, textiles, kitchenware products, and other miscellaneous accessories and products for your home. I have heard a lot of people talk about how they do not like IKEA, and then others that swear by the products that they sell. I guess it’s all the luck of the draw and what cool new products you can find for your home or apartment. Their products are very reasonably priced, but this fits in well with their target market. Their main focus is on college students, recent college graduates, or even newlyweds. I think the overall idea of the store is great because they have room scenes of everything that they offer, and then they show you how much everything would cost in the room if you wanted it all. As you walk through the enormous store you really need to make a list of exactly what you want and the style number, because then you must go downstairs and find what you want. They have the store set up so the second floor displays everything and the first floor is where you find and purchase the products. I think that the setup is really neat and I really enjoy walking through the IKEA store in Charlotte to find different kick-knacks and accessories for my home.

Hong Kong Vintage & Recycled

Hong Kong Vintage and Recycled is located in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood of Charlotte, NC. Hong Kong is a small boutique that carries home goods, kitchen goods, clothing, records, and other great unique vintage items. You can find unique items at great prices to decorate you and your home. They also offer an online store which is easy and accessible and charges very little for shipping. A couple years ago Hong Kong was featured in Charlotte Magazine in the “Best of the Best Issue.” The article stated that, “The bright red circular sign, about a half-mile down Central Avenue from The Plaza denotes one of the area’s greatest vintage treasure chests. It may be small, but Hong Kong Vintage boasts a clean, well-maintained collection of leather jackets, polyester dresses, and wide-collar button-downs. As with most vintage shops, everything is arranged by color, and if you’re patient enough, you’ll likely walk out with a stylish $20 outfit which, best of all, no one else will be wearing at the restaurant that night." Check out Hong Kong in store or online at www.hongkongvintage.com and see what great treasures you can find for you and your home.

Urban Outfitters

From unique books to custom Plato bikes, Urban Outfitters has it all. Urban Outfitters is located in South Park Mall and is such a great store for you to express your creativity through your fashions and home décor. The fashions are always reasonably priced, and always go on sale when new merchandise comes in. I always enjoy looking at the jewelry, nail polish, scarves, and shoes that they have to offer. Random books are alwa fun to look at, and are always located throughout the store. Usually in the back of the store is where all of the fun nick knacks and random pieces of furniture are located. The prices in the store range from $4.99-575. The most expensive item that I have found in the store was a very modern “Night and Day” convertible table, but was such a good quality piece of furniture that could be used for years.

Urban Outfitters has four sister stores: Anthropologie, Free People, Terrain, and Leifsdottir. Each of these stores focuses on their own target market and all offer an eclectic mix of merchandise in which fashion and interior goods are crossed merchandised.

Francesca’s Collections is one of my favorite boutiques. Francesca’s is constantly growing and putting boutiques in new locations, and they currently have boutiques all over the U.S, and are adding more each year. They have everything from random accessories like tampon cases to Miss Me Jeans. I love this store so much because every time I have ever walked into the store I always find such great deals. They always have some kind of sale going on whether it is just a sale rack in the front of the store or certain items are a percentage off. Right now all of the jewelry is buy one get one 50% off, and all denim is 30% off. This is such a great steal because the jewelry that Francesca’s sells is already so reasonably priced and then you get half off your second one you purchase! I love getting new jewelry, especially when the seasons change, because it can spice up a new outfit or even some old pieces from last year. Miss Me Jeans are my absolute favorite brand of jeans. They are the most comfortable jeans, they fit my body perfect, and they always have such great designs on the pockets. Miss Me Jeans usually range from $90-$120, but right now they are 30% off! I know its spring and we will be approaching summer soon, but we can wear jeans all year round and this is too great of an offer to pass up. Francesca’s always features a “Pick of the Week,” which is a different item every week that is always 20% off. These are always really cute and new fashionable items so make sure you check it out!

Francesca’s also offers great job opportunities around the United States from sales associates to corporate positions. They are constantly updating their website on their newest positions that are available.

Zac Posen-Targets Spring 2010 Featured Designer

Every season Target features a different designer that presents his/her line to the public. This season Zac Posen is featuring his unique line of clothing and accessories. I love when Target features different or new designers, because its Target so we know that the clothes are going to be reasonably priced and they will be also be of good quality fabrics. I really like Zac Posen’s new line because it is bringing the 80’s back. The line includes swimwear, belts, floral-printed dresses, a tuxedo jacket, pants, shirts, and a raincoat. This clothing line incorporates colorful and bright hues (that are in right now) for spring, and looks as though he was inspired by the 80’s from leather to tutus. The prices range from $16.99-$199.99. The most expensive piece of clothing would be Zac Posen’s red leather biker jacket. Zac Posen launched one of his previous clothing lines to Target in 2008 so it’s interesting to look at how his looks have changed. His looks are casual yet unique enough to wear day or night. Step out in something new and original this season in a look that is as smart, sleek, and chic as you are!

Zac Posen comes from a creative family: his stepfather is a painter, and his mime and visual artist sister is also the creative director of his line, Alexandra Outspoke LLC, and his mother is a corporate lawyer and runs her own company. Zac Posen attended St. Anns for the Arts in Brooklyn and studied pattern making at Parsons School of Design. In 1999 he received his BA in Womenswear at Central Saint Martin’s in London. In 2002 New York Times announced that “A Star is Born” after his New York Fashion Week debut for Spring/Summer 2002.
*Available in stores and online at target.com April 25.
